Before immigrating, I worked as a physical education teacher at a sports science institute in a teacher’s college in China. My role involved training physical education teachers for middle schools and universities.
In September 2017, my entire family immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan, where I found my first job at a well-known fitness chain store as a personal trainer. Within the first month, I became the top salesperson, but three months later, I left the company due to differences in fitness philosophies. However, I continued to receive requests for personal training, so in January 2020, I registered my own business, Immediate Fitness Ltd., and started operating from my basement. Initially, I offered one-on-one personal training sessions.
In September 2021, the company leased a commercial property and expanded its services to include group classes such as Zumba, yoga, and CrossFit. We also introduced children’s traditional Chinese dance classes. The coaching team grew from one person to five. During this time, my spouse also got involved in the business, handling finance and customer service. In December 2021, IMF Aerobics Club was established. Aerobics is a popular sport worldwide but not yet widely recognized in Canada. In May 2022, our child achieved excellent results in a dance competition. It has always been my dream to see my child perform at a world-class aerobics competition.
In September 2022, our family relocated to Oakville, Ontario, and the company also moved, marking the start of our second entrepreneurial journey. IMF aims to create a self-service fitness facility that combines various group classes such as weight loss, body shaping, boxing, yoga, bungee fitness, and trampoline fitness, along with personal training sessions.
